The Berridge Park Precinct Redevelopment has taken an exciting step forward after Council awarded the tender for the project to CONVIC Pty Ltd, following a rigorous tender evaluation process.
The award of the tender marked a major milestone for this fully funded project, and with final contract negotiations now complete, CONVIC is set to begin work on the detailed design phase.
Located on Hollings Road, Berridge Park is Denmark’s central recreational hub and a popular destination for locals and visitors. The redevelopment will include a new skate park, a new playground, a multipurpose sports court, improved public amenities, and landscaping works featuring artistic and cultural elements that reflect our town’s Aboriginal and European heritage.
Shire President, Aaron Wiggins, said this is an important milestone, and Council is excited to award this contract for such a significant project.
“Having recently enjoyed the great community carols event this month, we’re reminded of the importance of Berridge Park for Denmark, as a focal point for our community,” Cr Wiggins said.
A significant amount of time has been allocated to the detailed design phase, allowing for the valuable community feedback received during our consultation period to be fully incorporated. From this phase, the Shire will receive ‘ready-to-construct’ plans, and we anticipate construction will begin mid-next year.
“With actual ground being broken just over the horizon, it is so exciting to look forward to what this major project promises - the whole of Berridge Park being better utilised, not just for community events, but our everyday enjoyment.”
This ambitious project has been fully funded through a combination of grants from Lotterywest, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport’s (CITS) PlayOn WA initiative and the Commonwealth’s Growing Regions Program, providing a total budget of over $5.5 million to revitalise one of our Shire’s most integral public spaces.
The Shire of Denmark thanks all tenderers for their submissions and looks forward to collaborating with CONVIC Pty Ltd to deliver a space that aligns with our community’s needs and aspirations, in accordance with the Berridge Park Design Guidelines adopted by the Council in 2024.
