Culture and Community

Culture and Community is a Sustainability Pillar in our Sustainability Strategy 2021 - 2031. The relevant key principle is: 'We value our community's cultural knowledge and sharing this with future generations'.  Our objectives related to this pillar are:

  • Build a skilled, confident, and knowledgeable workforce who can positively respond to the challenges of sustainability and climate change
  • Commit to a culture of sustainability embedded into all Council activities led by the Shire Executive
  • Promote sustainable best practice within the broader community
  • Work collaboratively with the indigenous population and develop best practice indigenous engagement and recognition strategies
  • Work with our young people to develop a vibrant youth space in our community
  • Embrace inclusivity and ensure availability and access of infrastructure and services to all minority groups including disadvantaged, and people with disabilities
  • Promote partnerships with not-for-profits to deliver Shire activities and assist with infrastructure requirements that support sustainable principles
  • Establish a community volunteering model that will provide long-term support to community groups
