The Shire of Denmark advises that a section of the Hollings Road footpath will be temporarily closed for three weeks from 10 to 28 November to allow for essential repairs.
Following a recent inspection, a 20-metre section of the footpath along Hollings Road, between Haire Street and Crellin Street, was identified as having sustained significant cracking. Although the structure remains stable, remedial works are necessary to prevent further deterioration and ensure public safety.
The closure will allow contractors to complete a series of repairs, including:
•Installation of additional retaining wall posts,
•Reinforcement of timber panels,
•Replacement of damaged asphalt sections, and
•Improvements to drainage and structural supports.
While undertaking these works, which will restore the footpath to a safe and accessible condition, the Shire is committed to minimising disruption during the closure period.
For your safety, pedestrians are asked not to walk through or within the section of the footpath closed for repair.
There will be limited disruption to motorists using Hollings Road, with the only precaution in place being a lowered speed limit of 40km at the work zone.
Pedestrians are encouraged to use the recently upgraded Mokare Trail or other alternate walking and access routes between the Denmark Townsite and the Rivermouth Caravan Park.
The Shire will provide an update on the reopening of this section of the footpath to our community upon completion of the works.
