The Shire of Denmark will conduct herbicide spraying on its bushland and road reserves from February to April 2026. This initiative is part of a strategic effort to manage invasive and declared weeds and pest plants, as outlined in the Shire of Denmark’s Bushland Reserves Weeds Strategy (2024).
Licensed contractors will carry out the spraying, targeting weeds listed at local, state and national levels. These include Blackberry (Rubus sp.), Taylorina (Psoralea pinnata), Madiera Vine (Anredera cordifolia) and Sweet Pittosporum (Pittosporum undulatum).
Residents are advised not to pick Blackberries from bushland and road reserves to avoid potential exposure to sprayed herbicides. Spraying will not take place near properties registered on the Shire’s “No Spray Register”.
