The Shire of Denmark advises that the water supply to the indoor showers in the Ocean Beach changerooms will be temporarily shut off while an upgraded wastewater system is installed.
The existing wastewater system was originally scheduled for replacement in the future. However, the popularity of the redeveloped Ocean Beach precinct has resulted in far higher usage than predicted, particularly over the recent Summer Holiday period.
While it is encouraging to see the popularity of Ocean Beach exceeding expectations following the completion of the precinct’s redevelopment, this higher than anticipated increase in demand has exceeded the capacity of the system. This has prompted the need for immediate replacement to ensure long‑term reliability.
To complete the upgrade safely and effectively, the indoor showers will be without water for several weeks. During this period, the changeroom building will remain fully open and accessible to the public, including toilets, change areas and other amenities. The Shire will continue to provide updates on the progress of these necessary upgrades.
Community members will still have access to water for rinsing off, with both outdoor beachside showers remaining fully operational throughout the upgrade works.
The Shire appreciates the community’s understanding and patience as we undertake this important improvement to maintain the quality of facilities at Ocean Beach, without further restricting access.
