Council intends to amend some of the areas where dogs are prohibited, allowed to exercise or are required to be on a leash.
The areas can be found within the Shire’s Dogs Areas Policy, available on the Shire’s website at https://www.denmark.wa.gov.au/documents/adopted-policies/council-policies.
The key changes are:
- Dogs are now permitted on lead within Berridge Park and Norm Thornton Park.
- Prohibited and leashing areas within Kooryunderup / Mount Hallowell are now documented.
- Additional leashing area around Prawn Rock Channel (island).
- Clarification of prohibition area at Ocean Beach (from Surf Club to 200m north).
- Removed Ocean Beach Road reserve and Ocean Beach Road from prohibited areas.
The proposed changes will take effect from Monday, 2 November 2026.
