The Shire of Denmark, along with the Denmark Community Resource Centre, invite everyone to join ‘Denmark Celebrates’, a vibrant event that brings together the Denmark River Arts Markets and the popular community Christmas celebrations.
Bringing together the spirit of Christmas with the Summer Solstice and the season of Birak, Denmark Celebrates will take place at Berridge Park on Saturday, 13 December, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and is free to enter.
At the heart of the festivities will be the Denmark River Arts Market, showcasing an incredible range of handmade arts, crafts, and local produce across more than 60 stalls, offering the opportunity for more Christmas shopping and to support our amazing local makers and growers.
In addition to the market, visitors will enjoy a full day of dance and music, as well as Carols by Candlelight featuring familiar Christmas carols performed alongside songs marking the Summer Solstice and our First Nations heritage, as we transition into the Summer months known as ‘Birak’ in the Noongar calendar.
Shire President Aaron Wiggins said he believes the community is excited to have the Denmark River Arts Markets combined with this year’s Christmas celebrations.
“It is great to have this end-of-year event, celebrating Christmas with the Denmark River Arts Markets, and Berridge Park is such an iconic and relaxed location for our community to get together at - you can’t help but enjoy yourself”, Cr Wiggins said.
Attendees can also indulge in delicious food from a variety of stalls while spending the day enjoying family-friendly activities, such as face-painting and circus games, all complemented by a program of live music and performances, ensuring fun for all ages.
The Denmark River Arts Market aims to be a zero-waste event, with attendees encouraged to help reduce waste by bringing their own water bottles, cutlery, and crockery. Please note that Denmark Celebrates is an alcohol-free event, and that dogs are not permitted at Berridge Park.
