As you may know, the Shire has been awarded more than $5.5 million in funding support from Lotterywest, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport’s Play On WA initiative and the Commonwealth’s Growing Regions Program to revitalise Berridge Park and shape it into a multi-functional space designed to connect community members of all ages and abilities.
Over the coming months and the life of the construction project, we are committed to providing you with updates about what’s happening.
August 2026 Project Update
- RECENTLY COMPLETED: The contractors recently presented the 50% completed design package to the Shire. As this now clearly identifies where all the main park elements are going, an early works package has been put together so that we can confidently commence works onsite such as demolition of the old infrastructure, drainage and plumbing whilst we continue with the finalisation of the design.
- WHAT’S NEXT: In the next few weeks, you will see fences go up and the site set up ready for works to commence starting with demolition. The team will keep working on finalising the designs and once we have the amazing 3D images of this, we will share those with you too!
Frequently Asked Questions
How much of the park will be closed during construction?
The park will be closed from the public toilet block to the gravel area (inclusive). This means there will be no playground or public toilets available in Berridge Park during the construction phase of the project. The nearest public toilets are in Norm Thornton Park on the other side of South Coast Highway, and the nearest playground is at Kwoorabup Community Park.
When will the project be finished?
We’re not able to commit to a date yet, but expectations are before the end of 2027. We’ll keep you updated as we get a clearer picture of the timeline once works are underway.
