Over 100 young people mingled across four weeks at a local café across last month as part of the Youth Chill series – a program aimed at promoting positive youth mental health and wellbeing.

The free sessions developed by the Shire of Denmark in partnership with local business were held every Tuesday afternoon during September at Luscious Café and allowed young people to connect, chat, create and enjoy some snacks in a relaxed, youth-only environment.

Craig Rogers, manager of Luscious Café said it was a pleasure to host the Youth Chill sessions which brought so many young people together.

“The turnout was great and it was wonderful to see so many kids getting along so well. Everyone was polite and respectful of the space as well as clearly having a great time. The snacks and iced-tea provided were certainly appreciated.

“Certainly a real pleasure to witness all the fun and creativity really bring Luscious Café to life. We at the Cafe would be proud to host this or a similar event again the future,” he said.

The sessions coincided with Social September which is about strengthening relationships with each other through face-to-face social interaction.

The Shire’s Community Development team are working on securing more events like Youth Chill in the future.
