 William Bay Infrastructure Renewal Project

We have been advised by Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) that recent heavy rain events have delayed the completion of their William Bay Infrastructure Renewal project. If favourable spring weather and warmer conditions prevail the park is anticipated to be open in November.

Infrastructure update received from Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA):

  • Two-coat seal completed on Madfish Bay Road with kerbing and drainage currently being completed.
  • Waterfall Beach car park – Tack coat seal, kerbed with beach access steps completed.
  • Madfish Bay carpark - Tack coat seal, kerbed with beach access steps under construction.
  • Lookout  - Tack coat seal, kerbing and concrete island infill completed.
  • Concreting in Greens Pool car park 80% complete with feature rocks in place. Precast seating on site, to be installed post concreting.
  • Three toilet structures 95% completed across the park.
  • Signage to be installed within coming weeks.
  • Finishing details to be achieved closer to the end of the project.
  • Recent heavy rain events have delayed the completion of the William Bay Infrastructure Renewal project.
  • Warmer ground and air temperatures are needed to complete final asphalt application, and further improvements to drainage of the Elephant Rocks car park.
  • If we get favourable spring weather and warmer conditions to enable the completion of works, we hope to have the park open by November.

Visitor access:

  • Visitors are reminded that the park is still a construction site and people illegally entering the site are putting their own safety, and that of the contractors at risk. Illegal entry to the park may potentially result in the project's completion date being delayed further.
  • Waterfall Beach and Madfish Bay remain accessible by either walking or cycling the 3km of Munda Biddi Trail between Lights Beach and access rocks located to the east of Waterfall Beach car park. Please note that there is no access to Greens Pool or Elephant Rocks from this end of the park.
  • Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks can be accessed by walking from Parry Beach for 8km along Mazzoletti Beach, however walkers must consider their safety when attempting to cross the Parry Inlet which is currently flowing into the ocean. Walkers must not attempt to cross Parry Inlet when tides are high and big swells are forecast as conditions can become very dangerous. If in doubt, please refrain from crossing.

Further information regarding the park upgrade and re-opening is available by phone DBCA’s Walpole office on (08) 9840 0400.
