It is hereby notified for public information that the Shire has received an application for Development Approval for the purposes described hereunder:

Proposed Development: Liquor and Food Education Centre - Special Facility Tourism (Use Not Listed) & Shop (Liquor Store)
Address: No. 5 (Lot 217) Mount Shadforth Road, Denmark
Shire Reference:  2022/1: A1369

In accordance with the Shire’s Town Planning Scheme No. 3 (TPS No. 3), the proposed Liquor and Food Education Centre - Special Facility Tourism is classified as a Use Not Listed, thus as part of the assessment process this development application is required to be advertised for public comment in accordance with Clause 6.4 of TPS No. 3 and Schedule 2, Part 8 and Clause 64 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.

 

In summary, the proposal relates to the use of an existing building for the carrying out of the following activities:

  • Liquor and Food Education Centre – a venue that provides education of regionally produced liquor and food through tasting events, courses and masterclasses conducted by local producers & guest educators.
  • Specialised Liquor Tastings – paid tastings as a regular function of the liquor store.
  • Shop – the sale of packaged liquor and artisan food products

Comments on the proposal should be lodged with Planning Services, in writing (email is acceptable) on or before close of business on Thursday 10th March 2022.  Please note that any comments received may be referred to the applicant to provide them with an opportunity to address the issues raised in the first instance (NB: names and contact details are removed at this point in time).  Should the proposal be referred to Council for determination, all comments will be made publicly available at that time, which may include submitter details. 

 

This proposal is available for inspection in order to provide an opportunity for public comment as part of the Shire’s assessment process of the proposal.
