The new look Denmark Shire Council met for the first time this evening, following the Local Government Election held on Saturday.
With recent reforms to Local Government now in place, the ward system in the Shire of Denmark has been abolished. The following Councillors represent the entirety of the Shire of Denmark community on Council:
- Dominic Youel (term expires 2027)
- Nathan Devenport (term expires 2027)
- Aaron Wiggins (term expires 2027)
- Janine Phillips (term expires 2027)
- Kingsley Gibson (term expires 2027)
- Jan Lewis (term expires 2025)
- Jackie Ormsby (term expires 2025)
- Donna Carman (term expires 2025)
- Clare Campbell (term expires 2025)
At the commencement of the meeting, Cr Kingsley Gibson was elected un-opposed as the new Shire President after former Shire President Ceinwen Gearon did not re-contest the election. Cr Gibson comes to the role of President after serving as the Shire’s Deputy President since 2021.
Cr Jan Lewis was elected as the new Deputy Shire President.
Speaking during the meeting, Shire President Gibson congratulated the new and re-elected Councillors, and thanked them for their support.
“The community has entrusted us to make decisions, sometimes difficult, on their behalf – I’m sure we’ll all do what we can to honour that trust,” Cr Gibson said.
Out-going Councillors Ceinwen Gearon and Donald Clarke were recognised and thanked for their service on Council.

The new Council will meet for its first Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 21 November 2023.
