Garage Sale Trail 2023: Bag a Bargain This Spring

Published on Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at 11:48:00 AM

Cash in or bag a bargain when the Garage Sale Trail, Australia’s festival of pre-loved stuff, returns to Denmark this spring.

With garage sales all across Australia on 11-12 and 18-19 November, the event is a great chance to turn your stash into cash and shop epic stuff at retro prices.

The trail has free registrations, along with a number of how-to guides, promotional resources and even touch-free PayPal QR code payments, making the garage sales easy for both sellers and buyers over the two weekends.

In 2022, more than 2323 local participants in Denmark were involved as sellers or buyers at 305 garage sales and stalls with 64,992 kilograms of reusable items saved from landfill.

Hopefully this year, even more participants will join the trail over the two weekends.

Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said selling or shopping at garage sales is a fun and simple action we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Events like Garage Sale Trail help neighbours connect, make some money and keep their good stuff out of landfill. More sales mean more bargains and I’m sure there will be something for everyone,” Dr Gearon said.

Before the sale weekends in November, a series of online talks featuring an all-star cast of experts and familiar faces will share their sustainable living tips that are kind on both planet and pocket. Featuring presenters Barry du Bois and Veronica Milsom, alongside experts in second-hand selling, styling and the circular economy, the Trail Tutorials will be hosted online and free to attend.

The Garage Sale Trail is aligned with the Shire of Denmark’s Sustainability key objective to ‘support the community to promote a circular economy and buy local philosophy’, outlined in the Shire’s Sustainability Strategy 2021-2031.
