Garage Sale Trail 2022: Makes Sense and Cents Not to Bin it

Residents can choose their own planet-saving adventure when the Garage Sale Trail, Australia’s festival of pre-loved stuff, returns to the Denmark community this Spring.

Garage Sale Trail 2022 will take place over four weekends from 29 October to 20 November. Powered locally by the Shire of Denmark, the festival encourages residents to sell, shop and learn about the circular economy.

Shire of Denmark Chief Executive Officer David Schober said the event was a fun way for community to connect, make some money and keep good stuff out of landfill.

“Keeping things in use for as long as we can by buying or selling at a garage sale makes sense for the planet and makes cents for participants,” Mr Schober said.

“The annual Garage Sale Trail event is popular in Denmark, reflecting our community’s sustainability key goals and objectives, so I’m sure we’ll see a lot of participation again at this year’s event.”

Between 29 October and 5 November, the community will be able to be part of the Trail Tutorials, a series of inspiring and educational talks all about sustainable fashion and renovations. Featuring Barry Du Bois, Annabel Crabb and Craig Reucassel—alongside experts in fashion, home renovations and the circular economy—the sessions are hosted online and free to attend.

Then, over two weekends of garage sales hosted simultaneously around the nation, community members will be able to declutter and sell pre-loved goods or shop the trail and snag a guilt-free bargain locally on 12-13 and 19-20 November.

“This nationally coordinated event makes garage sales easy by supplying tips, resources, advertising and even enabling touch-free PayPal QR code payments, so we are always proud to facilitate the program here locally,” Mr Schober said.
