The Shire of Denmark is pleased to announce Berridge Park will soon be home to a 22-kilowatt dual electric vehicle charger.
In addition, officers are liaising with Western Power to upgrade power capacity that will enable DC fast charging in Denmark.
The dual charger is the first of its kind in Denmark set to be made available for public use in an exciting development for the town.
Thanks to Council funding, the new charger – due for installation by March - will be located between two parking bays on Hollings Road alongside Berridge Park to allow for two vehicles to charge simultaneously.
An easy to use app by Exploren will manage payments, with Council due to confirm the fees at the February Ordinary Council Meeting.
Denmark Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said she was pleased to make public EV charging infrastructure available in Denmark.
“The existing and growing demand for EV charging infrastructure across Australia is well-known and it’s time Denmark got on board,” Cr Gearon said.
“As electric vehicles become more prominent on our roads, we know this new piece of public infrastructure is essential for a tourist region like ours.”
“This investment aligns with our Sustainable Travel and Transport key principles and objectives outlined in our Sustainability Strategy and Council is pleased to be taking another step towards reducing our footprint on the environment.”
Further updates and a more detailed timeline on the installation of the dual charger will be made available to the community as soon as possible.
