Denmark Recreation Centre plans its return

The Denmark Recreation Centre is working on a plan to re-open, following the release of the State Government’s COVID-19 Roadmap which forecasts relaxation of restrictions for gyms, health clubs and indoor sports centres in the coming months.

The State Government released a Change to Restrictions document that provided guidance relating to the Sport and Recreation industry.

Whilst as of the 18th May, up to 20 people can participate in non-contact sport, and indoor/outdoor fitness activities can resume, the document outlines that “gyms, indoor sports centres and health clubs remain closed.”

While restrictions are scheduled to ease for the industry as part of Phase 3 of the Roadmap, Recreation Centre Assistant Manager John Overton said the facility will only open once a sustainable level of service was established and a safe and healthy environment for its users can be achieved.

“The safety and well-being of our staff and patrons is at the forefront of our decision-making. Our aim is to reopen when we are comfortable with the level of service we can sustainably provide, both economically and logistically.”

“As we move through this situation as best we can, we sincerely thank our users for their patience and understanding. Our team will continue to deliver online services for our community whilst preparing for a re-opening,” he said.

Users can keep up to date with changes to Shire facilities as restrictions ease by visiting the Shire website and Facebook pages.
