The Shire of Denmark has partnered with the Denmark Community Resource Centre to trial a new program designed for people with early onset dementia or people at risk of acquiring dementia.

The Creative Solutions workshop program kicks off this week and will run as a pilot program for the next six weeks.

The program aims to provide a safe, inclusive and creative space that generates a sense of calm, memory stimulation, confidence and ongoing connection.

All members of the community who suffer from early onset dementia or who are at risk of acquiring dementia are welcome to attend this program as a mind strengthening exercise.

Denmark Shire President Ceinwen Gearon said it was important to offer community programs for members of our seniors community.

“Catering for our growing population of seniors is very important so I’m pleased to be partnering with the Denmark Community Resource Centre to deliver this program,” Cr Gearon said.

“Hopefully by offering this dementia-focused program together, we can reduce some stigma and loneliness while building confidence, friendships and community connections through creativity.”
