The Shire of Denmark Community Grants program opened today, with $25,000 worth of funding available for community groups to apply for.

The Community Grants program is designed to provide financial assistance to local not-for-profit groups to help them deliver projects which will benefit the Denmark community.

The 2022 program continues a long tradition of community funding support provided by the Shire to a range of local groups and activities.

Community Grants recipients in 2021 included the Denmark Country Women’s Association, Denmark Arts Council, Greenskills, Denmark Bird Group, Denmark Bridge Club Inc, Movies with Meaning, Great Southern Classic Car Show, Denmark Community Resource Centre, Denmark Baroque, Denmark Dragon Boat Club, Denmark Machinery Restoration Group Inc, Denmark Surf Life Saving Club, Denmark Yacht Club, Kwoorabup Community Markets Committee Inc and Tingledale Tennis Club.

Shire of Denmark Chief Executive Officer David Schober said the annual Community Grants program provides support to a diverse cross-section of the community.

“This year, one of our priority areas is on supporting youth-related initiatives but the application pool is diverse every year and we always enjoy seeing what fantastic ideas our local community groups come up with,” Mr Schober said.

“In this tough economic environment, we’re delighted to be able to continue offering this annual program of grants which encourage community-led initiatives which benefit us all.”

Eligible community groups can apply for a grant of between $201 and $10,000 via the Community Grants program, with hints and tips available online via the Shire of Denmark website.

A grant forum will be held on 2 September for those who need help with their applications.

“There are plenty of resources available to help community groups to complete a solid application and we encourage those interested to contact our Community Development Officer with any questions,” Mr Schober said.

Applications close at 4pm Thursday 15 September 2022 and applicants will be notified of their success in October 2022.
