These dates are subject to change. It is your responsibility to be aware of any changes.

Current Burning Period

We are currently in the Restricted Burning Period

There are two Restricted Burning Periods each year.

1 November - 15 December

16 March - 30 April

During this time, you cannot light an outdoor fire without a Permit to Burn.

Camp and cooking fires may be permitted under specific conditions in the Restricted Burning Period. Please visit the Camp and Cooking Fires page for more information.

Prohibited Burning Period

16 December - 15 March

During this time, no outdoor fires are permitted anywhere in the Shire of Denmark. This includes camp and cooking fires.


Restricted Burning Period

There are two Restricted Burning Periods each year.

Unrestricted Burning Period

1 May - 31 October

Sometimes referred to as 'Open Burning Season' during this time, you may responsibly light fires at your property, following Burn Smart principles, or make use of a camp or cooking fire. Remember: the Daily Fire Danger Rating must be Moderate or below.

If you wish to carry out a Standing Bush burn, you will require a Permit to Burn from 1 October.
