Surveys Close Soon for Tourism Strategy

Community members and business operators in Denmark are reminded that surveys are closing soon for the first stage of consultations on the development of a new Tourism Strategy in Denmark.

Two surveys, one for community members and another for business operators, were developed by Great Southern Centre for Outdoor Recreation Excellence (GSCORE) for people to be able to have their say on the future direction of tourism in the Shire of Denmark.

The results from the surveys will be collated and analysed to provide decision makers with a better understanding of the community vision for the future of tourism in Denmark, alongside further information gathered at consultation workshops and direct discussions with stakeholders.

All Denmark community members are invited and encouraged to complete the surveys which will play an important role in the development of a comprehensive strategy which will aim to build on local industry strengths, to identify the social, economic and environmental impact of tourism on the community and to guide the development of a sustainable visitor servicing model.

Consultation with the community during the development of the new strategy is of key importance to both GSCORE and Shire of Denmark.

“As we hope to continue to build the reputation of Denmark as a tourist destination, we want the community to have the chance to share their views on how our Shire manages visitors,” Shire of Denmark Acting CEO David Schober said.

“These surveys are a great tool for community members to share their views and which will provide us with data we need to develop a strategy for tourism which will benefit our locals and visitors.”

“While we’re encouraging as many people as possible to contribute to these surveys, we want the community to remember the consultation will continue with workshops in March and we look forward to continue to work together as this strategy is developed.”

The surveys close Sunday 28 February 2021.
