The Denmark Shire Council this week voted unanimously to approve a new Service Agreement between the Shire and the Denmark Airport Association and committed to an annual financial contribution to assist with maintenance at the Denmark Airport.

The Service Agreement, negotiated with the Denmark Airport Association committee in liaison with their President, formalises and recognises the voluntary work the association does to up-keep the critical facilities at the local airstrip.

Speaking during the meeting on Tuesday night, Shire of Denmark CEO David Schober commended the Denmark Airport Association.

“The Denmark airport is a vital asset for our community, particularly given its use for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and water bombers, so we commend the important work the association is doing on behalf of the community to ensure the airport is safe and serviceable,” Mr Schober said.

“It’s taken many months to reach this agreement but with Council’s unanimous support for this officer recommendation, I’m pleased we’ll be continuing to support the important efforts of the Denmark Airport Association.”
