This year’s Children's Book Week was another magical and popular event at the Denmark Public Library with the 2024 event held last week.
Each year, as part of the Book Week event, the Library team spreads the joy of reading amongst students at local primary schools, kicking off this year’s event with a ‘Reading is Magic Show’ by Jamie the Magician.
The show brought literature to life in an exciting performance enjoyed by the Year 1 and 2 classes from Denmark Primary School and the students from Kwoorabup Nature School.
Through a combination of storytelling, interactive elements and illusions, the children embarked on a journey where the pages of awesome books came to life.
Library staff ensured the Book Week spirit reached as many local children as possible with each day made special by dressing up as favourite book characters, welcoming classes to the Library, plus fun at Rhymetime and Storytime. The final day of Book Week was Dr Seuss Day which was particularly fun!
Senior Librarian Robyn Fairclough said it is a pleasure every year to see joy and imagination flowing as part of Book Week activities.
“Here at the Library, we are committed to nurturing a love for reading, igniting imagination, fostering connections, and spreading the joy of literature. This is the essence of Book Week.”
Book Week events in Denmark are made possible with support from the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries and the Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch.
