The Shire of Denmark has adopted its 2025/2026 Annual Budget, reaffirming its commitment to delivering services and infrastructure aligned with community priorities.

Shaped by community input and aiming to reinvest in our community significantly, Shire President Kingsley Gibson said the budget continues to build on the foundations laid in the Strategic Community Plan, with increased investment in infrastructure and initiatives that matter most to residents.

“Road maintenance, community infrastructure and the well-being of our residents will continue to be a priority,” Cr Gibson said.

Roadworks will remain a focus this year, with a comprehensive program of planned improvements including drainage upgrades, gravel resheeting, road widening, and realignment, to improve road safety, reduce long-term maintenance costs, and enhance access across the Shire, on crucial parts of the road network.

Through a combination of rates and grant funding, the Shire plans to spend $3,571,500 on roads, paths and drains this year, up from $2,274,283 last year.

Community infrastructure is also a focus of this year’s budget, with the exciting redevelopment of Berridge Park, a project jointly funded by the Shire of Denmark, Lotterywest, the WA State Government and the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program, that will service youth and families and revitalise the Denmark river front.

The reopening of Ocean Beach will be a significant milestone, as the major upgrade, led by the Shire with contributions from Denmark Surf Life Saving Club, the WA State Government and Lotterywest, receives $1,740,000 to complete the Denmark Surf Club Precinct Development project and public realm works.

“Completing the Surf Club and Ocean Beach precinct redevelopment will be one of this year’s highlights and will enhance community use and ensure the area remains safe and welcoming for future generations.”

To support and enhance the well-being of our community, new outdoor gym equipment will be installed at Peaceful Bay, the Denmark Recreation Centre will receive $15,000 of upgraded gym equipment and additional ACROD bays will be added in the Denmark townsite to improve accessibility for more residents.

“We’ve listened to our community and responded with a budget that reflects their values and aspirations.”

More details about upcoming projects and initiatives will be shared in the coming weeks and months.
