The Shire of Denmark welcomes two new community members, along with two returned councillors, to our Shire council, following the finalisation of the results of the 2025 Local Government Election held on Saturday, 18 October.

Following the official count, Denmark GP Alex Sleeman and local business owner Jay Hockey have been elected as first-time councillors.

Incumbent councillors Jan Lewis, who served as Deputy President, and Clare Campbell have also been successfully re-elected.

Filling the 4 vacant councillor positions, our newly elected councillors will join Councillors Kingsley Gibson, Dominic Youel, Janine Phillips, Nathan Devenport, and Aaron Wiggins to form the full Council.

Councillors Donna Carman and Jackie Ormsby were unsuccessful in their bids for re-election. The Shire thanks them for their dedicated service and contributions to the community during their terms.

This year’s election saw 46% of eligible voters submit a ballot, marking a slight increase in participation from the previous election in 2023, which had a voter turnout of just over 45%.

The positions of Shire President and Deputy Shire President will be determined at the upcoming Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, and announced to our community in due course.
