About the Opportunity

The Shire of Denmark is seeking a passionate and motivated Recreation Centre Coordinator to lead and support the delivery of key recreation, fitness and administrative priorities within the Recreation facility and Shire managed ovals. You will coordinate and oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services at the Shire’s Recreation Centre, ensuring facilities are well-maintained, strategically managed, and aligned with community needs. In this role, you will manage teams and contractors, guide strategic planning projects, and build strong partnerships with local clubs, associations, and community groups to enhance participation and the quality of local recreational opportunities. You will also provide high-quality administrative and operational support, ensuring customer-focused service across all recreation activities. Responsibilities of this Role includes

  • Manage the Recreation Centre facility and the delivery of its services effectively and efficiently within a continuous improvement framework.
  • Identify community sport and recreation needs and, within Council’s budget constraints, develop and deliver innovative programs, projects, and services to meet those needs.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to enhance collaboration and community engagement.
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to the Recreation team.
  • Monitor facility asset condition, data collection, and planning for new assets, upgrades, and replacement programs.
  • Manage staff rostering and lead by example with front counter operations to ensure efficient service delivery and high-quality customer experience.
  • Coordinate and lead the Recreation team to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and delivery of community-focused services.
  • Manage projects from planning through to delivery, including budgets, timelines, contractor engagement, and stakeholder communication.

 

About You

  • Experience in recreation facility management or demonstrated leadership experience managing and motivating multi-disciplinary teams in a busy, customer-focused environment.
  • Highly developed communication, public relations, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with community groups, sporting associations, volunteers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Proven experience in project management, budget management, with the ability to identify efficiencies and maximise available resources.
  • Strong understanding of Local Government operations and constraints, with experience working within regulatory and compliance frameworks (experience in a Local Government recreation facility is desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a busy environment, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes across a broad and varied portfolio.
  • Experience in the delivery of community engagement and recreation programs.
  • High-level organisational, problem-solving, and planning skills, with a forward-thinking approach to service delivery.
  • Passion for creating inclusive and engaging recreation programs that enhance community experience and participation.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to lead teams in a dynamic environment and contribute to a supportive and enjoyable workplace culture.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, point of sales system and general administrative systems.
  • Candidates must be willing to complete a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening) and provide a current National Police Clearance.

Hours - Full-time 76 hours per fortnight
Salary -
$87,500 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation, along with additional allowances and benefits
