Temporary Closure of Kwoorabup Footbridge

Published on Wednesday, 23 February 2022 at 11:10:31 AM

The Kwoorabup Footbridge recently underwent some routine maintenance works.

Detailed inspection of the bridge pilings was undertaken and it was noted that the pilings and associated bracing posts were in more of a decayed state than was expected.

The contractor identified that the bridge pilings need reinforcement in order for the bridge to be deemed safe for pedestrian traffic.

The Shire of Denmark is currently assessing the cost of reinforcement works. In the meantime, to ensure public safety, the bridge will be closed until the reinforcement works have been completed.

At this early stage, we do not have a timeline for reopening which means the footbridge will be closed until further notice. An update will be provided to the community as soon as possible on when the reinforcement works can occur and when the expected reopening will take place.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
