Shire of Denmark President Ceinwen Gearon is pleased to announce that Council last night offered Mr David Schober a Contract of Employment for the position of Chief Executive Officer.

The advertised role attracted a high level of interest with more than 60 applications received.

A representative selection panel, consisting of three nominated Council members, conducted and facilitated the recruitment and selection process. Beilby Downing Teal provided professional recruitment services.

Following a rigorous assessment process, the selection panel recommendation was presented to Council behind closed doors at this month’s Ordinary Council Meeting. Council voted unanimously to endorse the recommendation, deeming Mr Schober to be the most suitably experienced and qualified candidate.

Mr Schober has lived within the region for 20 years and has a background in leadership roles in local government, not for profit and private business. Mr Schober has been with the Shire of Denmark since 2017 and has served as Acting Chief Executive Officer since September 2019. Mr Schober holds a post-graduate qualification in Business Administration and Bachelor of Applied Science.

“David’s breadth of leadership experience in delivering business outcomes, his understanding of community priorities and capacity for stakeholder management, best positions our administration and the Council to deliver the Community’s vision and aspirations,” Cr Gearon said.
