Yesterday, seven ratepayers took home a combined total of $3000 worth of ‘Denmark Dollars’ after they were announced as winners of the Shire’s annual rates incentive prize draw.
The incentive program was an initiative put forward by the Shire of Denmark’s Rates Officer in an effort to give something back to ratepayers and support local businesses.
Ratepayers were automatically entered into the draw and eligible to win if they paid their rates in full by the first instalment due date.
Denmark Dollars vouchers can be used at businesses in the Shire which are listed as participants of the Denmark Chamber of Commerce Denmark Dollar program.
Prizes were awarded for first prize ($1000 Denmark Dollars), second prize ($500 Denmark Dollars), and third prize ($250 Denmark Dollars each).
First prize winner Carol Peachey accepted her prize at the November Ordinary Council Meeting, joined by second and third place winners who took home smaller prizes.
Shire of Denmark Chief Executive Officer David Schober said he was glad to support local businesses by rewarding the early payment of rates and hoped the prize winners would enjoy their reward.
