Nominations are now being called for the Shire of Denmark’s Junior (under 18 years of age) and Senior Sportsperson of the Year (over 18 years of age) and Service to Sport Award for 2021.

These awards highlight the value our community places on sporting groups and the important roles they play in improving quality of life in Denmark.

Shire of Denmark Chief Executive Officer David Schober encouraged community members to nominate outstanding contributors for the awards.

“We know our community boasts a lot of incredible locals who donate tireless hours volunteering through rain, hail and shine for our various sporting clubs and organisations,” Mr Schober said.

“This is a great way for us all to recognise those efforts and to show our appreciation and acknowledgement of the volunteers who help to keep our community sports scene lively.”

Sporting organisations and community members are invited to submit nominations for contributors to local sports with supporting details of achievements as soon as possible.

As an incentive, the Shire will offer a grant of $100 to the winners of each category to be made out to their sports club in recognition not only of the winner’s personal achievements, but also of the effort taken to place a nomination.

If the winner is not a member of a local community sports club, the grant may be awarded to a Shire of Denmark club at the winner’s discretion.

Nominations are to be sent to the Shire of Denmark, PO Box 183, Denmark WA 6333 or emailed to enquiries@denmark.wa.gov.au by no later than 4pm, Friday 26 November 2021.
