Lights Beach Upgrades Almost Complete

The re-opening of Lights Beach is just weeks away!

Heavy weather throughout autumn caused progress delays but the team of contractors have done a great job to work towards completion in difficult conditions.

The new toilet block, lookout and universal access pathway are now complete, in addition to the curbing and asphalting work on the carpark.

The team is now turning attention to the tidy up and cosmetic works, finishing off line-marking, wheel-stops, revegetation and mulching.

Once these works are complete, Lights Beach will be ready to open to the public once more.

Weather delays have pushed back the completion date and additional measures were put in place to improve the site’s ability to weather future high rainfall events.

The project has taken a while to complete, but the Shire stands by the decision to open Lights Beach during the summer holiday period so community members and visitors could enjoy the festive season at this landmark on our coastline. We took the risk there would be weather delays at a result and we thank the community for their patience as we eagerly await the unveiling of the newly refurbished landmark on our beautiful coastline.

As soon as there is an official re-opening date to announce, the Shire will share this with the community.
