As bushfire season approaches, Bushfire Ready Denmark is organising a free Community Information Day on Saturday 26 November.

Hosted at the Civic Centre at 10.30am - 12, the event will feature a short documentary of the February bushfire, a presentation on how to be ‘bushfire ready’ and a chance to meet bushfire brigade captains and members, as well as Bushfire Ready facilitators.

Bushfire Ready Denmark Lead Facilitator Murray Brooker said he was keen to create community awareness that the last weekend in November every year should be a bushfire preparedness weekend.

“The goal is to get everyone in our community in the habit of making that last weekend before summer a bushfire preparedness weekend,” Mr Brooker said.

“For this community information day, we’ve pulled together a program which we hope will be interesting and informative for our community members who are keen to find out more about what they can do to be prepared.”

“It’ll be an informal morning with friendly volunteers on hand to help and we hope to see plenty of people pop in to find out more about how to be Bushfire Ready.”

The Community Information Day is a free event, open to all members of the public to pop by between 10.30 and 12. The documentary screening will start around 11am.
