Denmark Recreation Centre update

The Denmark Recreation Centre has announced that it will reopen in a staged approach, beginning with Sport Association Training from Monday 15th June.

Fitness classes, including the crèche, will be available from Monday 22nd June, with a variety of classes returning for the community to enjoy.

“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our staff and patrons, so while sports training and fitness classes will run initially, the gym will remain closed until restrictions are eased further,” said John Overton, Assistant Manager of Recreation Services.

Current State Government COVID-19 guidelines state that gyms must be physically staffed at all times, the Denmark Recreation Centre isn’t able to sustainably manage that requirement with the resources it has.

Virtual fitness classes are still available for the Denmark community to enjoy at no cost via the Connected Community Channel using Zoom – https://zoom.us/ Meeting ID 321-844-2936. This can be accessed with your mobile phone, tablet, laptop and PC.

“On behalf of the Denmark Recreation Centre staff, we would like to thank the Denmark community for their patience, support and understanding during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Closing our facility was very difficult to come to terms with and we have certainly missed the environment and the friendly atmosphere residents help to create,” Mr Overton said.

The Shire will continue to review and announce service delivery changes as the State Government continues to relax COVID-19 restrictions.
