Dead Tree Removal

The Shire of Denmark wishes to advise the community of two dead trees that will be removed in the coming weeks after an inspection with a qualified arborist and pest professional.

A large dead Karri tree on the northern side of the Denmark Bridge in Norm Thornton Park will be removed on Monday, 21 December 2020, due to a heavy infestation of wood borers affecting the integrity of the tree and some rot.

The tree was partially removed in 2018 with plans to engage a sculptor to create an artwork from the remainder, however a recent inspection has revealed the tree will continue to deteriorate with little that can be done to halt the damage.

Another large dead Karri tree on Hollings Road opposite Karri Glen Way is to be removed in the New Year as a result of a fungal attack that has girdled the tree causing a quick die off.

The tree poses a risk to pedestrians and road users due to falling branches and close proximity to the road and foot path.

The public is asked to stay clear of the locations and machinery when works are occurring.
