Mr Geoff Bowley handed in his notice of resignation to the Shire of Denmark last week, announcing he will step down as an Elected Member on Thursday 30 September ahead of the October election.

Though his term was due to expire in 2023, Mr Bowley cited family reasons for his wish to conclude his role on Council ahead of the upcoming Local Government election in October.

Six seats on Council will now be contested at the October election with two in the Town Ward, three in the Scotsdale/Shadforth Ward and one in the Kent/Nornalup Ward.

Mr Bowley was first elected in the Town Ward in 2019 and represented the Shire on the Audit Advisory Committee and on the Local Planning Strategy Working Group.

On behalf of the Shire, Mr Schober extended his thanks to Mr Bowley for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.
