Community Encouraged to Prepare for Bushfire Season

As bushfire season approaches, our Shire Rangers are encouraging Denmark residents to do what they can to prepare their properties for the season ahead.

The team is once again running the ‘Book a Ranger’ program for the months of October and November to help residents identify actions they need to take to prepare their property for the warmer months.

Residents can make a free appointment with a ranger who will come out and provide assistance with Firebreak and Fuel Management Notice 2021/22 compliance.

Senior Ranger Charmaine Shelley said the ranger team was more than happy to help the community prepare for the upcoming bushfire season.

“When you ‘book a ranger’, we’ll meet you at your property and go through the requirements of the annual Firebreak and Fuel Management Notice with you,” Ms Shelley said.

“There’s a lot of important information in the notice so sometimes it can be helpful to go through the requirements and responsibilities with someone.”

“There are different ways residents can manage the fuel load at their property and by booking a ranger we can help provide some ideas and tips on how to prepare for bushfire season.”

“It’s important to get to work on these jobs now ahead of the drier months and ahead of compliance inspections which will commence soon.”

Ms Shelley also encouraged community members to consider joining a Bushfire Ready group or volunteering with their local fire brigade.
