Australia Day 2021 Award Nominees Announced

The Shire of Denmark has released the list of nominees for the 2021 Australia Day Awards.

Community members are encouraged to attend the Australia Day Twilight Family Concert in Berridge Park on 26 January 2021 to support the nominees and congratulate the winners on their outstanding community contributions.

Nominees for Citizen of the Year are Beverly Ford, Nigel Marsh, Ben Power, Belinda Ross and Peter Wiseman.

In the Citizen of the Year – Youth category Tyler Hartfield, Macy Lane and Will Miller have been nominated.

Citizen of the Year – Senior nominees include Chris Howden, Rob Senior and Olly Wakka.

Nominees for the Sports Awards are Maureen Cowdell, Lucia Edwards, Kellee Hick, Amie McHenry and Belinda Ross.

Four groups have been nominated for the Active Citizenship Award, including Denmark Historical Society, Denmark Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, HorsePower Denmark and Movies with Meaning.

All of the individuals and groups nominated for 2021 Australia Day Awards have contributed positively to the Denmark community.

Shire of Denmark Acting CEO David Schober said last year was very challenging for the community.

“We are excited to soon announce the winners of the Community Citizen of the Year and Sports Awards, acknowledging their valuable and positive contributions to our community despite all the challenges faced due to the pandemic,” Mr Schober said.

“We absolutely encourage community members to come along to our family friendly event on Australia Day at Berridge Park to lend support to these very deserving nominees.”
