Denmark Emergency Service Cadets
The Shire of Denmark actively supports the Denmark Emergency Service Cadets which is hosted by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services at the Denmark High School. This program was initiated in 2011 as a way of introducing the local youth to volunteering within the local emergency services and now has a membership of over 30 cadets.
The cadet unit meets on a Tuesday afternoon, during school terms, at 3:30pm at the Denmark High School and assists in training school students aged from 12 to 18 in the following emergency services techniques;
- Bush and structural fire fighting
- Land search rescue
- First aid
- Radio communications
- Rope and knot skills
- Marine rescue and water safety
- Camping skills
- Road crash rescue
The cadet unit has a great selection of new equipment including, camping gear, trailer, boat, archery equipment and emergency service equipment. The cadets also regularly train on actual emergency service vehicles.
