Play in the Park is a free outdoor play based activity which gives children the chance to learn through play in a supported, engaging and safe environment. Play in the Park activities include games, toys, storytime, craft activity and fruit time.

The aim of Play in the Park program is to improve child development through play, plus a great way for parents to meet. This is also an opportunity for families new to town and visitors make a connection with the library.

Play in the Park, Denmark will be held at Berridge Park on the second Wednesday of the month from 10am-12pm.

Parents, grandparents and carers of children 0 - 5 years old, whether local families or visitors to Denmark, will love Play in the Park.

Better Beginnings

Better Beginnings is a state wide family literacy program promoting reading and the love of books from an early age. It has been developed by the State Library of Western Australia, and aims to support parents as their children's first teacher.

It's never too early to start reading to your baby or child. Sharing a love of reading, rhyming, singing and talking with your child is one of the best things you can do to give them a head start in life.

A Smart Start

Great Southern Development Commission - A Smart Start

A Smart Start Mission

To empower families of 0-4yr olds that they are their first teachers in providing an optimal learning environment that nurtures and encourages them to reach their potential

Families of Denmark will benefit from the A Smart Start early childhood initiative, a project which is supported by the Great Southern Development Commission. A Smart Start is a community-based early learning intervention for children aged from birth to four years old.

A Smart Start gives families the foundation skills required for life-long learning, social interaction, plus physical and mental well-being. The initiative supports health and development milestones and aims to improve outcomes for children in the years before school.
