Children's Community Spring Fair

30-10-2009

The 2009 Children’s Week Community Spring Fair was held on Saturday 24th October at the Denmark Recreation Centre.

Children’s Week is an annual event which celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood, and this year’s event has again been considered a great success. There were many fantastic activities including face painting, mask and garland making, music, stories and playdough along with lots of food, laughter and fun.

The Golden Hill Steiner School made beautiful floral garlands, Library staff and A Smart Start committee dressed as a pirates and a Fairy made fairy masks and provided a space for children to have some time sharing stories. The Denmark Play Group had fun with bubbles while the Spirit of Play and the Occasional Day Care had lots of food to share. There was an opportunity for Woodbury Boston to showcase their school and enjoy a Wheat Play activity and Margot from Parenting WA offered Rice Play.

The Denmark Family Place joined the Spring Fair this year to paint the faces in wonderful designs, the Denmark Pre Primary and enthusiastic Mrs. Howells had lots of colourful playdough with a difference and there was plenty of entertainment with Regi and her musical students along with Recreation Centre Staff who set up the Toddler Gym equipment.

The Spring Fair offers chance for parents to see what opportunities are available for their children, for children to have a great time and for those organisations involved to work together, get to know one another and share in the joy of working with the children of Denmark.

This year’s event was, hosted by the A Smart Start committee, supported by Communities for Children – supported by the Australian Government and organized by the wonderful Julie Lehane whose organisational skills are amazing.
