Domestic Rubbish Pickups

Domestic rubbish in the Town area is collected every Monday/or Friday depending on the area. All bins should be placed out by 6.30am in the morning of pickup. All domestic residences must have a 120 litres Wheelie Bin, available to purchase from the Shire.

Fortnightly Rubbish Pickups

Any person with a Domestic Rubbish Pickup is entitled to have a fortnightly rubbish pickup. If commenced at the start of a financial year the full rebate will be deducted from the Rates Notice. If commenced during the year a pro-rata rebate will be issued in the form of a cheque.

The rebate can be obtained by filling out appropriate rebate form at the Shire office. Works staff will arrange for the bin lid to be changed to yellow to denote fortnightly.

Holiday Accommodation Premises

Any residential premises operating as Home Holiday Accommodation or Bed & Breakfast etc. can purchase a 240 litre wheelie bin and have a commercial pickup at the relevant commercial rate.

Rural Properties

All rural property owners are required to take their rubbish to either the McIntosh Road Waste Transfer Station or the Peaceful Bay Waste Site.

Rural residents can take their recycling to the McIntosh Road Landfill site free of charge if sorted or charged if unsorted.

Commercial Operations

Commercial operators need to purchase a 240 litre Wheelie Bin, available from the Shire. Their pickups are twice weekly, Monday and Fridays. These bins will be stencilled with a Bird Logo by the Works staff to enable the drivers to establish that this is a paid pickup. For a reduced rate Commercial Operators may choose to have a once weekly (Friday) pickup. If this is chosen the bird will be stencilled in a Yellow paint to denote a weekly pickup.

Recycling

Recycling is collected every fortnight from the Town domestic areas by Cleanaway.

Green Skills operate the Tip Shop at the McIntosh Road Transfer Station.  The shop is open during normal operating hours and will accept recyclable items at the Site Operator’s direction.  For more information please follow this link to www.greenskills.green.net.au .
