QUEEN’S BATON RELAY – DENMARK ROUTEQueens Baton

When: Commencing at 12.07pm east of Denmark, opposite the Denmark Senior High School.

Community Celebration:  from 11.45am Berridge Park, Hollings Road, including announcement of the QBR colouring in competition. (the Baton will enter Berridge Park at approximately 12.20pm) 

Following the Community Celebration the Baton will depart Berridge Park and continue through the streets of Denmark along Hollings Road towards Barnett Street.  North along Strickland Street, turning left at South Coast Highway and continuing to Ocean Beach Road.

Please refer to the list and map below to see who the Baton Bearers are, their location on the route and the time they will be carrying the Baton.

COMMUNITY CELEBRATION: Seating will not be available however you are welcome to bring your own if required.  Please leave your pets at home.  Dogs are not permitted at Berridge Park.  If you have special needs please let the Shire know beforehand so that we can endeavour to accommodate you.

Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 - Queen's Baton Relay

The Queen’s Baton Relay is a Games tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride and excites people about the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.

The Queen’s Baton carries a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition. Starting on 13 March 2017 at Buckingham Palace, the Baton will travel on an epic 388-day journey through all nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

The uniquely designed Baton starts its Australian journey on 25 December 2017, 100 days before the Opening Ceremony.

The Queen’s Baton will arrive on the Gold Coast for the XXI Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on 4 April 2018.
